Lube makes the world go-round. Lube makes sex better, masturbation better, and is necessary when using sex toys.
Whether you’re a man, woman, straight, gay, or anywhere in between, there are a few universal truths. Never put something in or on your dick, butt, vagina, boobs, or mouth without knowing what it is and where it came from. I’ve followed this simple rule all my life and it has never failed me. It won’t ever fail you either, I promise. Don’t just use any old sex toy lube, you need something of quality!
For pure sex I suggest going with a silicone based-lube from our lube guide. If you planning on using sex toys, you’re going to want something water-based for most situations. As most high-quality sex toys are made of silicone, you don’t want to use a silicone lube with a silicone toy as this could damage your toy.
Using a good water-based lube has many advantages.
- Works with any and all sex toys safely
- Doesn’t stain
- Easy to clean
- Inexpensive
There are only a few brands of personal lubricant that I trust in my vagina or on my sex toys. Let’s take a look.

Premium Lube Brands
These are the crème de la crème of sex toy and Fleshlight lube. Amazing quality with a higher price tag.
Sliquid Naturals
Sliquid Naturals is a water-based and organic personal lubricant. Now for all your organic haters out there, remember, this thing is going on some very sensitive areas. Pay the organic premium or risk your dicks!
Sliquid H20 is water-based and made with all natural ingredients. No manufactured chemicals or sugar derivatives we see in most lesser-quality lubricants. The whole process from testing to implementation is cruelty-free, no animals were tested on or harmed in the making of any Sliquid product. Sliquid is also made in the good old United States of America. The USA has strict guidelines and policies put in place ensuring your lube doesn’t get contaminated.
Why Sliquid is our #1 favorite Fleshlight lube
Firstly, Sliquid is just a fantastic product. Your penis will glide in and out effortlessly. Sliquid also has incredible longevity, you won’t need to reapply constantly like you might with other water-based lubes.
Secondly, cleaning a Fleshlight is a horrible chore. Post orgasm that last thing you want to do is spend 10 minutes washing it out. Sliquid being a water based-lube will dry away leaving no smell or stain. It also makes removing any semen easier as it will be more fluid.
Don’t risk destroying your expensive and best Fleshlight with a low quality lube, stick with Sliquid!
Ingredient List
- Purified Water
- Plant Cellulose (from Cotton)
- Cyamopsis (Guar Conditioners)
- Potassium Sorbate
- Citric Acid
Conclusion
If I had to recommend just one lube that is perfect for almost any situation(besides anal), Sliquid Naturals would be it. It’s safe on your sex toys and in your body. It’s hypoallergenic and works well for everyone. The price is fair and Sliquid Naturals ticks all the right boxes.

Mid-Level Lube Brands
These middling lubes are pretty good. They won’t be organic and all natural but their price will be easier to swallow.
KY Jelly
The famous KY brand. Known all around the world for their provocative commercial advertising and temperature lubes.
KY is a very gentle lubricant that doesn’t offer much in terms of thickness. It is very light which works well for masturbation and sex toy use. For anal sex toys you would want something quite a bit thicker.
Ingredients
- Water
- Glycerin
- Sorbitol
- Propylene Glycol
- Hydroxyethylcellulose
- Benzoic Acid
- Methylparaben
- Sodium Hydroxide
Conclusion
Truthfully, KY is more style than substance. They have the best marketing team in the wet world of lubricants. That doesn’t mean their product is without merits however. It is a decent product.

Gun Oil H2O Lubricant
Gun Oil is a brand that you either love or hate. Many people can’t get past the name or packaging. For me though, I’m more concerned with the quality of what’s inside the bottle.
Gun Oil H2O is a superb quality sex toy lube. It’s highly concentrated, long-lasting, and provides a smooth ride. It’s easy to clean and wash off. It’s also fortified with aloe vera which provides extra moisture and is gentle on the skin.
Ingredients
Water, HEC, PEG 45, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Polyquaternium 5, Tetrasodium Edta, Germall 11, Sodium Benzoate, Aspartame, Polysorbate 20, Aloe Vera Extract, Ginseng Extract, Guarana Extract, Avena Sativa Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol.
Conclusion
Gun Oil is an okay choice. However, it falls apart at the price. It’s just too expensive for how small the bottle is. It also has quite a few ingredients filled with chemicals we can’t even pronounce. Overall, it’s a well reviewed product and I know from first hand experience it works well.

Cheap Lube for Fleshlights
Fleshlube
Fleshlight has designed a phenomenal product. The Fleshlight is used by millions of men all across the world. The stamina training unit is used to help men with premature ejaculation. The Fleshlight Launch is a huge step forward for hands-free masturbation and is probably the best men’s sex toy.
That said, their lube kind of sucks. It’s pretty clear they didn’t put much thought or care into it. It’s a simple product that is way to expensive for what it is. They pair it up as a combo deal when purchasing a Fleshlight and most men unwittingly buy it. Clever marketing.
Ingredient List
I wish I could tell you but they don’t actually share that information on their website. WTF Fleshlight, get it together!
Conclusion
It’s not the worst product in the world, but I’d go with any of the above over Fleshlube.

What Do These Ingredients Even Mean?!
Unless you have a PhD in chemistry, you probably have no idea which lube ingredients are good, and which are bad. A good rule of thumb: the longer the ingredient list, the worse the product is. Let’s take a look at some of the more common ingredients that you definitely don’t want in your body.
- Glycerin – A byproduct of sugar that helps to retain moisture. Used in many lubes, particularly if they are flavored. Glycerin can be used as a fuel source for microbes. Introducing it into a vagina could increase the likelihood of a yeast infection.
- Nonoxynol-9 – It’s name is reason enough to avoid it. Nonoxynol-9 is found in many spermicides and some lubes. It can kill both good and bad bacteria in the vagina.
- Petroleum – Petroleum is super common in poor quality sex toy lubes and lubricants found around the house like Vaseline or baby oil. It’s difficult to clean petroleum based lubricants. They are very sticky and stick on and in your sex toys. Fleshlights are especially vulnerable to petroleum based lubes.
- Propylene Glycol – Not the worst thing in the world according to the good and drug administration. Although, their quote “generally recognized as safe”, doesn’t inspire much confidence. Also, some women have reported being sensitive to it, causing mild irritation.
- Parabens – Parabens are in a weird limbo. Some people swear they are cancer causing and terrible. Others say there is no concrete proof of them doing damage. Either way risking your vagina, dick, or pricey sex toy isn’t worth it.
- Chlorhexidine Gluconate – Now that’s a couple of $10 words. It’s an antibacterial that can cause mild irritation for some people.
If you see any of these ingredients you should generally avoid those products.

Consistency
I want my sex toys to be working like a well-oiled machine. I don’t want to have to worry about them snagging on a hair or bit of skin. I want them to effortlessly reach a blissful orgasm.
“The wetter the better.”
-Me, Just now
It’s all about consistency. A sex toy lube needs to be body-safe, retain moisture long enough for orgasm to occur, and not break down sex toy materials.
